About me

My background, my teaching philosophy, and my favorite color.

Well, first of all, my name is Dae. I live in and tutor in the Oroville/Chico/Paradise area. I'm California home-grown, and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology in 2013. In college, I helped my friends in the dorms prepare for math tests and proofread research papers. I noticed I had a serious knack for it, and have been tutoring ever since! I currently offer online tutoring for anyone and in-person tutoring for local students.

My tutoring philosophy revolves around the idea that everyone is capable of learning, but not always in the same way. Some people learn best through repetition, while others learn by understanding the underlying mechanics (e.g. WHY do we use this equation, and WHAT is it doing?). My spouse even learns how to fix things around our house by watching YouTube tutorials repetitively! When working with a student, my goal is to work with them on their level; for this reason, learning plans vary from student to student. If a student is struggling, it means we need to look at what they're not getting in the classroom and support them in that way.

I tutor a wide variety of subjects including, but not limited to, K-8 multiple subjects, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, AP calculus AB, essay writing, and SAT/ACT prep. I have worked with students of all ages, from elementary school to adult learners; it's never too early or too late to learn something new. Feel free to reach out with any questions, and I look forward to working with you!

... Also, my favorite color is turquoise.
